Diamond in the Rough or Sophomore Slump?

By Chris Rohrbaugh

April 10th, 2006

On any given day, you may find me in the state of confusion. You ask, why? Well... Have you ever had to out do yourself the next time around at something? There is this "something" that is so amazing in life that it puts a lot of pressure on me. HYDRODUNK! Not everybody has been exposed to this sensation created in the summer of 2002.

I, myself, was shown this game during the past summer of 2005. I had made a special guest appearance in the recent mix-tape. I know I was not the greatest dunker that day, but I will tell you that my dunks were entertaining. I would have to say my style would be something of a combination. I have not had any signature moves set in stone really, but I do have the "Rizen-Tizzin Tine Flip." I also participated in one of the most amazing multi-person dunks in hydrodunk history.

Now it is time to explain why I am in this state of confusion.

This case may not happen with the experienced dunkers such as, Dave "El Diablo del Dunko" Hauser, Andrew "Speedy" Hauser, Gary "El Greco" Hatez Jr., Jake "JMC" Crabbs, or Artie "Big Wooly" Rathell. But for me, coming up with a "never before seen" dunk is not easy. Maybe, my partner in crime special guest, Neil Groft has had better luck trying to out do previous hydrodunks.

Pressure comes in different forms. School, friends, work, being under a FAT GIRL!!! Hydrodunk puts pressure on me. I feel I have the creative type mind that I will impress myself and the others. I take my notes and little knowledge I have and try to come up with dunks that might make "the greats" jealous enough to say, "Hey Dude, Sweet DUNK!!"

As this entire school year winds down and comes to an end, I have been putting together styles and forms to blend together something great. I can not wait until the summer is here. I know the others are ready and have mysterious dunks up their sleeves, so I am ready.

Not to mention that the multi-person dunks that I have been thinking of have not been seen before. This is the greatest part of hydrodunk, the multi-person dunks. Making it a team effort is just SUPER-DUPER!!!

All in all, it comes down to how I perform this summer. I know that the 2nd time around is not anyways the greatest performance. So either I can amount to being among "the greats" or I can fall out and just altogether suck. Pressure is on. Are you ready? I just might be...

{Editor's Note- This appears to be Mr. Rohrbaugh's application for re-admission to the HYDRODUNK MIXTAPES (note the appeal to each and every MIXTAPE STAR in paragraph 4). Although this is not the most eloquent article (note the joke at the beginning of paragraph 5), it is a good demonstration of how Hydrodunk can get into one's head and consume one's entire mind (not unlike an alien spore). - JMC}
