Addicted To Dunk

Hello. My name is Jake and I am a dunkaholic. I've been a dunkaholic for well over two years now.

It all started back when I suffered from a crippling addiction to SuperBowling I had just gotten a fix and I felt on top of the world. We had been SuperBowling all afternoon, then Gary 'Del Greco' Hatez, Dave 'El Diablo Del Dunko' Hauser (then known as 'El Diablo Del Hollywood Video') and I headed to the swimming pool. Soon we were slam dunking on the pool side basketball hoop. Eventually we started jumping into the pool so that we could get more air for our dunking. As things evolved, the hoop made its way onto a raft in the middle of the pool and HydroDunk was born. I was hooked right away. HydroDunk is like a perverted mix of crack and absinthe (or so I am told), the feeling is unreal.

I got so hooked on HydroDunk that I insisted that we film it. I am not sure who's idea it was to film HydroDunk but if you have been paying attention, you know that I am the one person who is in every HydroDunk MixTape™.

In the summer of 2003 I went to Australia for a month. In a subtropical paradise, I had to find a way to cope without HydroDunk. At a hotel swimming pool in the city of Surfers Paradise, I resorted to just going through the motions. I created new dunks, worked on my form, and perfected my rotations all without a ball or hoop. At Lake McKenzie, in the cleanest, clearest, most beautiful (and tasty) water I've ever seen, I dunked a stone of sand pressed together over thousands of years through a hoop of reeds woven together over several minutes on the beach.

When I returned, there was time for only one more HydroDunk MixTape™ filming before the pool was closed for the season. What followed was a long and slow off-season. I filled the time by trying to come up with new dunks. When the next season started, I was ready.

We were HydroDunking before school was over for the year. We dunked a lot in the summer of 2004. We filmed well under half of the dunking. I would go and dunk when we couldn't find enough people to have a filming session. I would go and dunk after dusk. I was hooked like a small mouth on a jig, and there was no way I was going to spit the bait. The last HydroDunk session of the year was called on account of cold. I was the last person in the pool.

We have since edited all of the HydroDunk MixTape™ footage that we have. Now that we have HydroDunk MixTape™ footage online, I watch it everyday. Sometimes more than once. I think about HydroDunk when I wake up in the morning and envision new dunks as I fall asleep. I am addicted to HydroDunk...and I wouldn't have it any other way
