In "On Prophesying by Dreams," Aristotle claims that "divination... based on dreams, we cannot lightly...dismiss."
This is important to me because last night I had a dream. In my dream, I Hydrodunked. Not only did I Hydrodunk, but I did
it in a new swimming pool, in the rain and with a ball of fire. The ball itself was not made of fire, but was a standard ball
which was ignited by an ember, the preserved heat of last year's Hydrodunk flame. I shall now try to relate the prophesy contained
in this dream to you, the reader.
The new swimming pool may symbolize three things: the new landscaping that is scheduled to be done around our current
Hydrodunking pool, the continuation of last year's quest do Hydrodunk in new and exciting locations or the taking of Hydrodunk
to a new level, never before seen.
The rain symbolizes the dark and cold of the off-season. The flaming ball cutting its way through the rain is the heat
and warmth of the sun cutting through the winter and bringing us glorious Hydrodunking weather.
The ball of fire of course is not meant to be taken literally. Surely a firey ball would be damaging to both myself and
the hoop and the water would extinguish the flame as soon as the dunk was completed. It is, however, not coincidental that
in basketball, one is often said to be "on fire" when his shooting percentage is very high. Likewise, the ball of
fire may be symbolic of a high rate of success in the dunking to come.
Most importantly is the glowing ember. It is the burning desire and passion for Hydrodunk that has been preserved through
these cold winter months. It is not burning very hot now, but soon it will be fueled by the sunshine and warming air and fire
of Hydrodunk will burn brighter than ever.
